At that time little girls were not supposed to be demanding or confident. We were brought up to be nice. Since I’ve discovered somatic exercises I have been learning to understand and express my own emotions, instead of covering them with tears or withdrawal. I discovered Bioenergetic Analysis when interviewing a body-oriented therapist for my radio show about sexuality (I’m a trained sexologist). Once I learned more about the approach, I got hooked. I got so hooked that at the age of 40 I decided to go back to school and get trained for 4.5 years to become a body-oriented psychotherapist. I am now in my fourth year of training, having obtained certification as Bioenergetic Counselor. To ensure the quality of my work I have regular supervision with an experienced therapist. On top of that I bring additional, extensive (1.5 years) education and training in group workshop facilitation and life coaching (1 year postgraduate university course). In my private life I’m an expat in Switzerland. I came to Zurich in 2018 from Warsaw, Poland. My family pack consists of myself, my husband, 9-year-old son and two senior cats. I love the Baltic seaside and the color red. PRACTICAL INFORMATION What, when, where? Contact me Somatic (Bioenergetic) therapy was founded on one key concept: our feelings are reflected in our bodies. And our bodies have the power to regulate our emotions and heal the mind. Remember the last time you were extremely stressed? Chances are high you experienced it on a physical level. Sensations such as: Faster heartbeat Tense shoulders Headache Tightness in your throat Stomach pains or frequent bathroom visits A sense of having soft and weak legs These are just some of the examples of how our bodies react to stress. Research shows that stress, especially prolonged, can have a negative impact on our heart, immune and digestive systems, hormones, and memory, to name but a few. According to a review of scientific studies body psychotherapy approaches may bring about the reduction in people’s psychological distress.
